Xi 400 LT USB

Compact Industrial Fixed Thermal Camera with USB Interface

The Optris Xi 400 LT USB is a fixed thermal camera for accurate and cost-effective non-contact infrared temperature measurements with USB interface. Therefore, the infrared camera supports operators who require detailed thermal profiles for advanced monitoring in industrial applications.

The thermal camera operates in the long-wave infrared spectrum (8–14 µm) and provides 382 × 288 pixel resolution. Furthermore, it covers a wide temperature range from –20 °C to 1500 °C. With a distance-to-spot ratio of up to 390:1, it measures small objects precisely at long distances. In addition, the motorized focus allows remote adjustment for surface temperature targeting.

Optris imaging systems use uncooled bolometer detectors instead of scanning mirrors. As a result, they achieve greater robustness and cost efficiency compared to line scanners. All models are designed and manufactured in Germany, ensuring quality for demanding industrial settings.

The Xi 400 LT USB has a compact, durable, and waterproof housing. Consequently, it is suitable for fixed installations or mounted setups in harsh environments. Its robust design ensures long-term operational reliability.

Connectivity is provided via a USB interface. Moreover, the camera records up to 80 Hz, enabling monitoring of rapid thermal processes. The line-scan function, for example, captures moving objects that appear only briefly in the field of view. The Xi 400 LT USB also includes analog and digital outputs, as well as a process interface. Therefore, it integrates easily into industrial machinery and control loops.

When combined with free PIX Connect software, the camera offers extended functionality. These features include hotspot detection, image merging, and radiometric video recording. Additionally, PIX Connect provides thermal data analysis and export. Developer kits are also available, which support machine integration and custom applications.

The Optris Xi 400 LT USB is an industrial long-wavelength USB thermal camera that offers accurate, cost-effective, and repeatable non-contact thermal imaging capabilities. This stationary thermal camera enables operators to obtain detailed thermal profiles for advanced monitoring applications.

Manufactured in Germany for industrial use within the long-wavelength infrared spectrum, this thermal camera features a mid-resolution thermal imaging capability of 382 x 288 pixels. The infrared camera captures temperature data across a wide range from -20°C to 1500°C. The high distance-to-spot size ratio of up to 390:1 enables monitoring of small targets at a large distance. The motorized focus function allows precise remote adjustment for surface temperature measurements.

Optris imaging systems are uncooled forward-looking infrared (FLIR) thermal imaging cameras optimized for stationary applications in industrial settings. These fixed-mounted thermal imaging systems utilize an uncooled two-dimensional imaging bolometer to generate radiometric thermal images in the infrared spectrum. The uncooled bolometer technology enhances reliability, cost-effectiveness, and robustness compared to traditional line scanner systems. All infrared cameras from Optris are designed, developed, and manufactured in Germany.

The infrared camera’s compact, durable, and waterproof design is suitable for fixed installations and mounted configurations, ensuring longevity in various industrial manufacturing settings. The robust design of the Optris Xi 400 LT USB thermal camera ensures reliable performance for process engineers who require precise infrared temperature measurements in manufacturing operations.

The Optris Xi 400 LT USB thermal camera offers computer connectivity via its USB interface and supports a frame rate of 80 Hz. This high frame rate facilitates the monitoring of rapid thermal processes, particularly in line-scan mode, which enables imaging of moving objects that are only partially visible at any given time.

When combined with the free-of-charge PIX Connect software, the Optris Xi 400 LT USB thermal camera offers advanced functionalities, including line scanning, image merging, and thermal hotspot detection. These advanced image processing features enhance its effectiveness in monitoring and inspection tasks. PIX Connect provides a comprehensive platform for thermal image processing and temperature data acquisition, making it an ideal solution for research applications that require cost-effective infrared imaging capabilities. Software development kits are available for integrators creating application-specific software solutions.

Equipped with both analog and digital outputs as well as a process interface, the Xi 400 LT USB thermal camera is suitable for providing control inputs to industrial machinery and equipment.

The Xi 400 LT USB thermal camera is compatible with a wide range of accessories designed for challenging environmental conditions. These include a water-cooled housing that extends the operating temperature range to 250°C and air purges that maintain lens cleanliness for continuous temperature measurement in dusty settings. Additional accessories include mechanical mounting options, electrical interfaces, and connection cables.

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.

Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:

The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera’s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
