The Optris CT 4M pyrometer stands out as a high-speed temperature measurement device designed for operating within a range of 0 °C to 500 °C. These pyrometers unique mid-wavelength spectrum, spanning from 2.2 µm to 6 μm, enables precise measurements across various materials, addressing challenges commonly faced with LT sensors operating in the long-wavelength infrared spectral range.
At the core of the CT 4M is an InAsSb detector, offering an optical resolution of 30:1, ensuring accurate readings for temperature monitoring applications even from considerable distances. With a rapid exposure time of 90 μs, it excels in high-speed operations where quick and reliable temperature readings are crucial.
A notable feature of the CT 4M series is its double laser aiming system, precisely marking the actual spot location and enhancing aiming certainty in temperature monitoring. Unlike single laser systems in conventional IR thermometers, the double laser sighting system of the CT 4M series indicates the size of the measurement spot and provides a system accuracy of ± 0.3% of reading or ±2 °C and repeatability of just 0.1 % of reading or ±1 °C demonstrate high measurement performance.
The CT 4M pyrometer offers a wide array of output options, including analog and digital outputs such as 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, USB, RS485, RS232 interface, relay outputs (2 x optically isolated), Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profinet, and EtherNet/IP. This versatility ensures seamless integration into various industrial processes and monitoring systems, enhancing the infrared pyrometers utility across diverse applications.
Operating efficiently in ambient temperatures up to 70 °C without additional cooling measures, the CT 4M pyrometer, when equipped with Optris accessories like air purging and mounting flanges, can be adapted to suit different manufacturing and process applications, expanding the infrared thermometers capabilities and ensuring compatibility with various operating conditions.
Furthermore, the CT 4M pyrometers undergo calibration in Germany to meet regulatory standards such as PTB or NIST, ensuring accuracy and reliability in temperature measurements. Customization options, including different cable sizes, allow users to tailor these online thermometers to their specific requirements, providing added flexibility and convenience.
Optris provides comprehensive support for the CT 4M series, offering consultation on industrial applications and after-sales assistance, ensuring that users can maximize the performance and utility of their pyrometers. With its precision, versatility, and reliability, the CT 4M series sets a new standard for excellence in infrared thermometry, making the infrared sensor a valuable tool for temperature measurement in diverse industrial environments.

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.
Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:
The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera‘s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
