The Optris CT 3M is a reliable solution for non-contact temperature measurement, particularly excelling in handling challenging materials in low-temperature environments, with a focus on metal applications. Engineered to operate consistently in demanding industrial settings, this IR thermometer covers a wide temperature range from 50 °C to 1800 °C.

At the core of the Optris CT 3M lies an extended InGaAs detector operating at a 2.3 μm wavelength, enabling precise temperature measurements of metals, secondary metal processing, metal oxides, and ceramic materials. With temperature measuring ranges from 50 °C to 1800 °C and exposure times as brief as 1 ms, the Optris CT 3M delivers exceptional accuracy and speed. The pyrometers short-wavelength spectral sensitivity minimizes measurement deviations resulting from changing emissivity, ensuring reliable performance across various materials and environments.

Designed to adapt seamlessly to various temperature requirements, the Optris CT 3M offers versatility for industrial settings. Whether it’s the 3ML model suited for temperatures between 50 °C to 400 °C or the 3MH3 model reaching up to 1800 °C, there’s an option to meet most temperature requirements, providing a reliable and adaptable solution for diverse industrial needs.

With a distance-to-spot size ratio supporting up to 75:1, the CT 3M ensures precise temperature measurements even from a distance. The infrared sensors compact size makes it suitable for integration into heavy machinery, while its rapid response time of just 1 ms enables monitoring of fast processes, offering quick and accurate measurements in industrial environments with low cycle times.

Featuring a two-piece sensor design comprising a measuring head and a separate electronic box, the Optris CT 3M prioritizes accuracy and versatility. The electronic box simplifies device configuration and offers various interface options, including analog and digital outputs such as 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, thermocouple (type K or J), USB, RS485, RS232 interfaces, relay outputs (2 x optically isolated), Profibus DP, ProfiNet, and Ethernet, Ethernet/IP.

Whether in laboratory, factory, or field settings, the Optris CT 3M facilitates accurate temperature measurements with ease. The pyrometers compact sensing head, measuring 14 mm in diameter and 28 mm in length, withstands ambient temperatures of up to 85 °C without additional cooling.

Optional accessories further enhance the functionality of the infrared sensor, catering to diverse industrial needs. The mounting fork ensures secure and stable installation for continuous temperature monitoring, while the sighting tube enhances targeting precision and accuracy. The close-focus lens allows for detailed temperature measurements on small or distant objects, and the air purge accessory protects the temperature sensor from contaminants in harsh environments. Cooling jackets optimize performance in elevated temperature conditions, ensuring consistent and accurate readings. These optional accessories expand the versatility of the Optris CT 3M series, providing tailored solutions for various industrial scenarios.

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.

Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:

The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera‘s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
