The Optris CTlaser P7 pyrometer is designed for precise non-contact temperature measurement of thin plastic materials, covering a broad range from 0 °C to 710 °C. The pyrometers specialized spectral region of 7.9 µm enables accurate readings for thin plastic materials, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring temperature control while producing thin plastic foils.
Featuring a measuring head capable of withstanding temperatures up to 85 °C without additional cooling, the CTlaser P7 ensures reliable performance in industrial environments. Its measuring wavelength of 7.9 µm, coupled with a rapid response time of 150 ms, enhances efficiency in temperature monitoring during various manufacturing processes.
Emissivity, a critical factor in temperature measurement accuracy, is carefully addressed in the CTlaser P7’s design. While plastics with a thickness greater than 0.4 mm and pigmented films exhibit high emissivity in the long-wave LT spectral range (8 µm -14 µm), very thin plastic films pose a challenge due to their transparency. To overcome this, the CTlaser P7 leverages material-specific absorption bands in the IR spectrum, employing narrowband sensitive IR sensors for precise temperature measurement.
Materials such as Fluoroplastic (FEP), Polyimide (PI), Acrylic (PMMA), Polycarbonate (PC), Polyester (PET), and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC or Vinyl) demonstrate the desired properties at 7.9 μm, enabling easy measurement with the CTlaser P7.
A distinguishing feature of the CTlaser P7 series is its double laser aiming marks, which provide precise aiming support and minimize alignment errors. This innovative system utilizes two laser beams to trace the infrared optical path and accurately indicate the spot’s position and size, regardless of distance.
The CTlaser P7 pyrometer adopts a two-piece design with a separate electronics box, delivering advanced signal processing capabilities. Offering a wide range of analog and digital outputs, infrared sensor ensures seamless integration into various industrial processes and control systems.
Enhanced with Optris accessories such as air purging and mounting flanges, the CTlaser P7 is designed for integration into diverse manufacturing and process applications. Manufactured and calibrated in Germany, these pyrometers undergo meticulous calibration to meet government standards such as PTB or NIST. Customization options, such as different cable sizes, cater to specific requirements.
Optris provides comprehensive support for the CTlaser P7 series, including consultation on industrial applications and post-sales assistance, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction. With its precision, versatility, and reliability, the CTlaser P7 is a valuable tool for temperature measurement in various industrial environments.

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.
Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:
The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera‘s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
