The Optris CTi 4M is a dynamic non-contact solution for temperature measurement, particularly adept at handling challenging materials in low-temperature environments. The pyrometers unique mid-wavelength spectrum makes it an excellent choice for fast and low-temperature measurements across various materials, effectively addressing the challenges faced by LT sensors.

At its core, the Optris CTi 4M comprises an InAsSb detector operating within the 2.2 – 6 μm range. This wavelength range makes the infrared sensor suitable for measuring metals, metal oxides, ceramics, or materials with unknown or changing emissivity. Designed for high-speed temperature measurements, CTi 4M covers a temperature span from 0 °C to 500 °C.

Key features of the Optris CTi 4M include a miniaturized infrared sensing head combined with an ultra-fast integration time of 110 μs and response times as short as 320 µs, enabling precise temperature measurement in high-speed applications. The pyrometers compact head design, measuring 14 mm in diameter and 28 mm in length, ensures versatility, is fitting into various spaces and is capable of operating at temperatures of up to 70 °C. Cooling with Optris accessories is advised for exceeding operating temperatures. Additionally, its distance-to-spot size ratio, supporting up to 10:1, and compact size make this infrared thermometer an ideal choice for integration into machinery and manufacturing equipment. The IR sensors rapid response time enables the monitoring of fast processes, facilitating quick measurements in industrial processes with low cycle times.

The Optris CTi 4M adopts a two-piece sensor design with a measuring head and a separate electronic box, prioritizing accuracy and versatility. The electronic box’s simplified device configuration offers various interface options, including analog and digital outputs such as 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, thermocouple (type K or J) USB, RS485, RS232 interfaces, relay outputs (2 x optically isolated), Profinet, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, Ethernet TCP/IP and EtherNet/IP. Whether utilized in laboratory, factory, or field settings, the Optris CTi 4M facilitates precise temperature measurements effortlessly.

The compact sensing head measuring 14 mm in diameter and 28 mm in length withstands ambient temperatures of up to 70 °C. Optional accessories extend the functionality of the infrared sensor, enabling seamless integration and adaptability across a wide range of industrial applications and environmental conditions. The mounting fork ensures secure and stable installation for continuous temperature monitoring, while the sighting tube enhances targeting precision and accuracy. The close-focus lens allows for detailed temperature measurements on small or distant objects, and the air purge accessory protects the temperature sensor from contaminants in harsh environments. These optional accessories broaden the versatility of the Optris CTi 4M series, providing tailored solutions for various industrial applications.

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.

Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:

The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera‘s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
