CT P7 — Important Features:

  • Temperature range: 0 °C to 710 °C
  • Spectral range: 7.9 µm
  • Response time: 150 ms

The Optris CT P7 pyrometer is specifically designed for non-contact temperature measurement of thin plastic materials, offering a wide range from 0 °C to 710 °C. The infrared sensor specialized spectral region of 7.9 µm ensures precise temperature measurements of thin plastic materials. This innovative pyrometer provides accurate readings within its temperature range and features a measuring head that can withstand temperatures up to 85 °C without additional cooling.

With a measuring wavelength of 7.9 µm, the Optris CT P7 is particularly well-suited for temperature control during the production of thin plastic foils. The pyrometers machine sensing time of 150 ms ensures rapid response, enhancing efficiency in various industrial processes.

Emissivity, a crucial factor in temperature measurement accuracy, is carefully considered in the design of the Optris CT P7. Plastics thicker than 0.4 mm and pigmented films can be easily measured in the long-wave IR spectral range (8-14 µm) with high emissivity of ≥ 0.9. However, very thin plastic films are transparent in this spectral range. To address this, the CT P7 utilizes material-specific absorption bands in the IR spectrum, employing narrowband sensitive IR sensors for precise temperature measurement. For example, materials like Fluoroplastic (FEP), Polyimide (PI), Acrylic (PMMA), Polycarbonate (PC), Polyester (PET), and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC or Vinyl) exhibit IR opaqueness at 7.9 µm and are therefore easy to measure with the Optris CT P7.

The Optris CT P7 offers a range of features to meet industrial needs. The infrared thermometers separate electronics box includes easily accessible programming buttons and an illuminated LCD, ensuring user-friendly operation.

The Optris CT P7 series infrared sensor prioritizes adaptability, featuring an electronics box with a wide array of analog and digital outputs, including 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, thermocouple (type K or J), USB, RS485, RS232 interfaces, relay outputs (2 x optically isolated), Profibus DP, ProfiNet, and Ethernet, Ethernet/IP. To further enhance functionality, optional accessories cater to diverse industrial needs. The mounting fork ensures secure and stable installation for continuous temperature monitoring, while the sighting tube enables precision targeting and improved accuracy in specific applications. The air purge accessory safeguards the temperature sensor from contaminants in harsh environments, and cooling jackets optimize performance in elevated temperature conditions, ensuring consistent and accurate readings. These optional accessories significantly expand the versatility of the Optris CT P7 series, providing tailored solutions for varied industrial scenarios.

The Optris CT P7 pyrometer combines precision, durability, and adaptability to meet the demands of temperature measurement in various industrial settings. Whether monitoring temperature during plastic film production or other applications, The Optris CT P7 pyrometers innovative design and features make it a reliable solution for accurate non-contact temperature measurement.

Ensuring Precise Temperature Control in Industrial Thermoforming Process

Thermography software optris PIX Connect is included and license-free.All infrared cameras are delivered with the thermography software optris PIX Connect, developed specifically for the extensive documentation and analysis of thermal images. The Windows-based PIX Connect software enables users to tailor the infrared cameras to meet specific requirements. It analyses live and recorded temperature data and triggers alarm signals for process integration. The key to leveraging the Optris infrared camera is a correct configuration. This includes detailed device-specific configurations such as frame rate, measurement range adjustments, external communication settings, and USB/Ethernet configurations. Moreover, PIX Connect facilitates firmware updates and the download of configuration files over the Internet.

Optris offers several different SDKs for our Xi and PI thermal imaging cameras. Depending on the operating platform, the infrared camera, the coding language, and the hardware platform, different software interfaces can be utilized:

The Optris IRmobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared camera’s field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared camera‘s live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed. This app works on most Android devices running 5.0+ with a USB port supporting USB-OTG (On The Go).
